Horsham Floods 2011

Burnt Creek

This is by no means the same calibre as the floods in Queensland and the horrendous flood in Brisbane where the river peaked at 5.3meters but waiting for our river to peak at 3.75 to 4 meters by 3.30pm tomorrow is scary enough.

Unfortuantely we have had so much water we have no where left to empty the storm water into to make room for the river water that is on its way down.

All the surrounding lakes are at full capacity so all we can do is sit and wait. We are not able to leave the town as all the surrouding highways and roads have been closed due to land slides and floods.

Where I am with my sister we dont expect the water to reach floor level...but at the rate its coming in from all directions from all the flooded surrounding towns we have been told that we will be notified by early morning whether we have to evacuate to the safety house on higher ground. Fingers crossed that doesnt happen
